Dinner Lady Summer Holiday Sun Tan Mango Review
For all my mango fruit lovers, get ready to skate away on the icy mango clouds from Sun Tan Mango by Dinner Lady’s Summer Holiday e-liquid collection! This is actually the third e-juice from this collection that I’ve tried and reviewed. The Summer Holiday lineup was made as a cool burst of refreshment during the hot summer months, and I’ve got to say that Dinner Lady has been wonderfully on point. The flavors are delicious, the menthol is cooling, and their price is very fair. I was very amused to see this mango flavor described as “Sun Tan Mango” since according to Snapple, mangoes can actually get sunburned! Let’s dive right into the review of this mango on ice and see how it compares to the rest of the e-juices in this collection.
If you’re familiar with Dinner Lady’s earlier bottling methods, you’ll remember that they were painted glass and had glass droppers. This was extremely annoying to constantly refill the dropper (which sometimes didn’t suck up enough juice/came broken) to refill your tank, as well as not being able to see how much e-juice was left in the bottle. Thankfully, Dinner Lady has updated their e-liquid bottles to be thin and tall. Each 60mL bottle is made of clear plastic with paper labels to allow you to see the color of the e-liquid as well as the amount of e-liquid left. The label is orange to reflect the juicy mango flavor inside and states that the product contains nicotine and that nicotine is an addictive chemical. The expiration date was clearly stamped just below the manufacturer information. You can find more about vape juice expiration dates here and why they’re important. Sun Tan Mango eJuice has a VG/PG ratio of 70/30, which has become the preferred e-liquid ratio. Now that the unboxing is finished, let’s discuss the fillup and review that!
THE FILL UP
Upon unscrewing the child-proof cap, my nostrils were met with the smooth and sweet scent of freshly ripe mangos. The fill-tip was slim enough to insert directly into my tank’s fill port and I was able to fill up my tank very quickly and mess-free. The e-juice had a 3mg nicotine content, which was displayed in very small print on the left side of the Dinner Lady logo. The liquid had a light yellow tinge to it, thanks to the nicotine, but moved around fluidly in both the tank and the bottle. The liquid wasn’t thick enough to make me fear clogging my coils, but wasn’t watery enough to make me worry about burning my coils. Once my tank was full, I took my first hit (I vape on 120W, thanks to my awesome TFV16 coils!), which we’ll go over now in the taste test!
THE TASTE TEST
Dinner Lady’s website describes this flavor as “sweet mango and koolada.” I have seen other sites that mention the mango as being honey mango, alphonso mango, and a touch of citrus as well. Vape flavors have a wide range and it’s often impossible to narrow down the exact flavors unless you’re told what they are. I reviewed one of Dinner Lady’s other flavors Cola Shades (which you can check out here) and without being told what flavor I was vaping, it would have been impossible to figure out the exact flavor. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll go with a sweet mango and ice as the description of the flavor. The menthol was strong and graceful on the inhale, and the exhale is really where I tasted the ripeness of the mango. I was reminded of Dinner Lady’s Mango Tart eJuice, which has a strong flavor of mango and a slight undertaste of custard.
The menthol was fairly strong (but not unpleasant) and left a tingling sensation on my tongue for quite a few seconds after I had exhaled. I’m no expert on mango differentiations, but I do see why some people mentioned multiple flavors at once. I definitely tasted sweet mangos, but it was just a tad artificial, almost like they were trying too hard with the mango flavor. Don’t get me wrong; I loved being able to taste the mango and was delighted that there wasn't a burnt taste after vaping this flavor several times (which is exactly what happened when I tried Naked 100’s Mango vape juice). The menthol was a little strong and the mango tasted slightly artificial, but it was something I could comfortably vape all day, especially during a hot summer day. The menthol gave such a nice cooling sensation that in the heat of the summer, this was wonderfully refreshing.
Overall, I’d give this flavor a 7 out of 10. I would have liked the menthol a little less strong just so I could enjoy the mango flavor more. The scent of the clouds was also sweet and pleasant. I had many people walk by and ask what that delicious smell was! I love mangos in real life (especially ataulfo mango) and have been frequently disappointed that e-liquid flavors aren’t as tasty as the actual fruit. However, this one was a pleasant surprise. I probably wouldn’t buy this again because of the strong reminder of Dinner Lady’s Mango Tart (which I wasn’t really a fan of), but this is an excellent mango flavor that is worthy of being in the Summer Holiday lineup. It was wonderfully refreshing on a hot day and I found myself coming back to this flavor instead of my regular fruit vape juices. If you’ve ever tried this flavor, what are your thoughts on it?
